Goldman Sachs Pours Big Bucks into E-commerce Logistics Firm Shiprocket
Goldman Sachs has invested heavily in Shiprocket, the e-commerce logistics company that made its stock market debut on August 19. The investment firm's Goldman Sachs FDS Goldman Sachs India EQ Portfolio purchased 40.24 lakh shares of Shiprocket at Rs 131 apiece, a transaction value of approximately Rs 52.71 crore. This is not the first time Goldman Sachs has invested in Shiprocket, as it was also an anchor investor ahead of the company's initial public offering (IPO). During the IPO allocation, Goldman Sachs Funds, Goldman Sachs India Equity Portfolio bought 36.07 lakh shares at Rs 97 apiece.
The stock listed at a 35% premium to its IPO price and closed its maiden trading session 9.24% higher than its listing price and 47.53% above its issue price. Analysts are positive on Shiprocket's long-term prospects, citing its end-to-end technology platform and diversified merchant offerings.
Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer at Master Capital Services, said, 'Shiprocket is well positioned to benefit from the growing demand for integrated e-commerce solutions through its end-to-end technology platform, diversified merchant offerings, strong presence across logistics and fulfilment, direct commerce and cross-border segments, and consumption-based model.'
