P&G Disaster Relief Program Expands to Reach More Communities
The Procter & Gamble disaster relief program has expanded its operations to reach more communities across the US. The partnership, which started over a century ago, aims to provide essential services and products to those affected by severe storms.
With the addition of new mobile shower and laundry units, the fleet is now strategically positioned at regional hubs across the country. This expansion allows the program to reach 90% of the mainland US population within an eight-hour drive.
The Tide Loads of Hope program, which offers free wash, dry, and fold services to impacted families and first responders, has completed over 100,000 loads since its launch following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The new expansion includes seven combined shower-and-laundry trailers and two restroom-only units.
Claude Zukowski, senior director of global community impact at P&G, notes that the expansion is a response to an increase in natural disasters affecting more communities. 'When we started this program, two or three major deployments a year were kind of the average,' she says. 'But today, these disasters are impacting more and more communities in larger ways.'
The new fleet is designed to be mobile and flexible, allowing units to be repositioned as community needs change.
