Goldman Sachs Puts Faith in Microsoft AI
Goldman Sachs has named Microsoft its top pick in the artificial intelligence sector following recent investor meetings. The investment bank met with Microsoft's leadership, including Head of Investor Relations Jonathan Neilson and Director of IR Danielle Criste, across Europe and San Francisco.
The firm noted that Microsoft has made several strategic AI decisions over the past three years, which are now delivering results as enterprises assess platform offerings in artificial intelligence. Goldman Sachs highlighted Microsoft's approach to front loading long-dated capital expenditures, providing flexibility over short-term capex decisions.
Maryland-based tech giant Microsoft is leveraging its multi-decade incumbency to make AI work in enterprise environments, including safety and governance protocols exemplified by Agent 365 bundled in E7. The investment bank believes key areas of discovery value will center on improvements in MAIA and Microsoft AI, along with momentum in enterprise platform go-to-market strategies.
Microsoft's stock has recently received price target increases from Oppenheimer and Cantor Fitzgerald, which maintained their Outperform and Overweight ratings, respectively. The company is also laying off 268 employees and consolidating several game studios under Activision.
