Goldman Sachs Raises $11.7B for Global Private Equity Strategies
Goldman Sachs has successfully raised $11.7 billion for its current generation of global private equity strategies, despite a challenging fundraising environment for buyout managers. The firm's latest flagship fund, West Street Capital Partners IX, closed with $9.6 billion in commitments from institutional and high-net-worth investors worldwide.
The fund will primarily pursue controlling stakes in upper-middle-market companies across various sectors, including services, financials, technology, healthcare, consumer businesses, and the energy transition.
Grossing more than one-third of its capital, the fund has already made several investments, including cybersecurity auditor Schellman, medical-device developer Numantec, sports representation and marketing agency Excel Sports, and infrastructure project manager Mace.
