Goldman Sachs Takes On Canadian Retail Market with IG Wealth Partnership

Goldman Sachs is expanding its presence in Canada's retail investment market through a partnership with IG Wealth Management. The bank will manage five portfolios, branded as IG Strategic Wealth Portfolios, which are designed for retail investors seeking exposure to equities, fixed income, and alternative assets.

The five portfolios have different risk profiles: Income Focus, Income Balanced, Balanced, Balanced Growth, and Growth. They aim to provide long-term growth while weathering varying market conditions.

Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Multi-Asset Solutions team will use its open architecture platform and experience managing multi-manager strategies to layer selected Goldman Sachs products alongside existing holdings.

This partnership marks a move by Goldman Sachs to reach clients beyond traditional institutional mandates. The bank has been pushing further into wealth and retail-adjacent products as it seeks more durable, fee-based revenue streams.
