Goldman Sachs Unleashes the Power of AI Across Its Operations
Goldman Sachs has made significant strides in its use of artificial intelligence (AI) under the leadership of chief information officer Marco Argenti. The firm's GS AI Assistant, which is used by around 40,000 employees weekly, asks millions of questions each month and has multiple specialized versions that integrate proprietary data and workflows.
Argenti's efforts to leverage AI have not stopped at the GS AI Assistant. Through Goldman's OneGS 3.0 program, announced in October 2025, the company is redesigning processes such as onboarding, know-your-customer protocols, reconciliations, and vendor management by incorporating teams of people, software, and AI agents.
The initiative has already shown promising results, with over 12,000 engineers gaining access to AI coding tools that have produced at least a 20% efficiency gain. Argenti's goal is to shift developers from writing code to specifying and overseeing what agents build, with the next step being the rollout of agents that continuously analyze markets, transactions, and client assets to inform decisions.
