Gomez's Wondermind Startup Hit with $1.2M Fraud Lawsuit Over Collapsed Mental Health Venture
Selena Gomez and her co-founders at mental health startup Wondermind Global are facing a federal fraud lawsuit in Delaware. Five investors allege that the company concealed its deteriorating finances while failing to deliver on promises of an app, corporate partnerships, and Gomez's active involvement in building the brand.
The complaint, filed Thursday, seeks to recover approximately $1.2 million the plaintiffs contributed to a $5 million seed round in 2022, plus costs and damages. The investors claim they were lured by representations that Wondermind was valued at $95 million and had lined up institutional partnerships with major corporations including JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and Fidelity (FIS), along with a 'full slate' of advertising deals, celebrity cover stories, and a groundbreaking mobile application.
'The partnerships did not exist. The initiatives never materialized. The app was never built,' the investors alleged in the filing.
