Alphabet Inc.’s Google has acquired Crusoe’s data center site in southeast Wyoming, taking over the project after the AI computing startup struggled to secure customers. The deal marks the end of Crusoe’s involvement in the pre-development work, which included site selection, governmental approvals, and power strategy planning.

Crusoe did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement. However, Google announced on Thursday that it plans to invest $17 billion in the Wyoming site, signaling a major expansion of its data center operations in the region.

The move highlights Google’s aggressive push into AI infrastructure, as the company seeks to bolster its computing capabilities to support growing demand for artificial intelligence services. For Crusoe, the deal represents a shift in focus, as the startup pivots away from the Wyoming project to pursue other opportunities.
