A federal judge has decided not to enforce a breakup of Google's advertising business, despite an earlier antitrust ruling.

The decision, revealed in a brief court posting on September 2, allows Google to resolve its antitrust issues through modifications rather than divesting part of its ad business.

The Justice Department had argued that a better solution would be for the tech giant to break up its advertising unit. However, the judge has opted to let Google address the issues with adjustments instead.
