Google Advertisers May Recover Millions in Monopoly Case
Law firms are targeting advertisers who spent money on Google search and display ads between August 2016 and the present, saying they may be eligible for compensation. This follows two antitrust cases filed against Google by the U.S. Department of Justice. In one case, a judge ruled that Google had illegally monopolized online search and search advertising, and in the other that the tech giant had monopolized certain digital ad technology.
One law firm claims advertisers can recover up to 30% of their spend on Google Ads. This could be significant for businesses that have spent millions on Google ads over the years.
The development is a result of ongoing antitrust cases against Google, which has been accused of abusing its market power in the digital advertising industry.
