Google Alerts Businesses to Spam Reviews with New Notification System
Google has introduced a new feature to protect its Business Profiles from spam reviews. The company is now sending out email notifications when it detects a spike in spam reviews on a business's profile. These notifications are designed to prevent fake or misleading reviews from affecting the business's Google rating.
The email, which says 'Protecting your Business Profile from spam reviews,' informs businesses that Google has detected a spike in spam reviews and removed them to prevent any impact on their ratings. To further protect the profile, new ratings, reviews, and other user contributions have been temporarily paused.
This pause is typically lifted within a few days once the risk of spam reviews is mitigated. Businesses do not need to take any action, but they can request a review if they believe legitimate ones were removed by mistake. They can also edit their Business Profile information or enable email notifications for new reviews.
