Google Analytics Introduces Allowlist for Approved Domains

Google Analytics has introduced Include data filters for hostnames, allowing users to define approved domains and keep event data from them. This change simplifies configuration and ensures the integrity of analytics data with minimal maintenance.

The new feature allows users to list production domains once and stop editing the filter every time a new one shows up. However, Active filters permanently change incoming data, so it's essential to test them before activation.

Data filters act on incoming data only, and Google's system evaluates them from the point of creation forward. This means older data does not change, but once a filter is activated, its effect is permanent, and matching events are never processed.
