Google app settings get a card-based redesign for better organization
Google is reportedly working on a significant redesign of the settings page for its Google app, aiming to make it more organized and user-friendly. Currently, the settings page uses a straightforward list layout, but the upcoming redesign may introduce a card-based format. This change would group similar settings into labeled cards, organized by categories such as “Your App Experience” and “Privacy & Safety.”
The new design aligns with Google’s Material 3 Expressive design language, offering a cleaner and more intuitive interface. Additionally, some settings that were previously buried within submenus, like “Search personalization,” “SafeSearch,” and “Results about you,” will be moved to the main settings screen for quicker access.
This redesign is part of Google’s broader effort to simplify its app settings, following a similar update for the Gemini app. However, the settings page for the Google app still differs from the one in Gemini, suggesting a lack of unified design standards across Google’s apps.
The new settings page UI has not been released yet, and there is no confirmed timeline for its rollout. The details were discovered through an APK teardown of the latest version of the Google app (v17.64.13), which predicts potential future features. However, it is possible that not all predicted features will make it to the public release.
