Cecily Brown, a renowned British painter, is taking action against an online scammer who has been impersonating her on Google's Gmail service.

The scammer set up an account using the email address 'aujourdhuiroseart@gmail.com', which references one of Brown's notable artworks titled 'Aujourd'hui Rose' and displayed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

Brown discovered the impersonation in July when a fellow artist sent her a copy of an email from the scammer's account. The message pretended to be from Brown, expressing gratitude for support from other artists and inviting them to join her for 'an exciting professional opportunity'.

Brown immediately sent a cease and desist letter to the address but received no response.
