Google has set up a team of senior hardware engineers and industry executives in Israel to develop an artificial intelligence chip for robotics and autonomous systems.

The newly formed unit, led by Guy Kaminitz, a former executive at Israeli chip designer Hailo, will focus on creating an AI processor that can run machine learning tasks directly on devices. This shift aims to accelerate processing speeds while reducing dependence on cloud servers.

Kaminitz and Ido Bukspan, previously chief executive of data infrastructure firm Pliops and a former NVIDIA Israel executive, are tasked with overseeing the development of this new AI chip.
