Google is facing another settlement payout to users of its Google Assistant technology. The company agreed to pay out $68 million in a class-action lawsuit alleging that its virtual assistant can activate and record communications without user consent.

The deadline for users to file a claim for their share of the settlement is this Thursday, August 27, 2026. Eligible users who purchased a Google-made device between May 18, 2016, and March 19, 2026, can submit a claim through the settlement website or by mail.

Google denied the allegations made in the class-action lawsuit but has agreed to settle with users. The final payment amount will depend on the total number of valid claims submitted.
