Google is planning to retire its Gemini Gems feature by November 17. This move marks the latest step in Google's shift towards more agentic AI through its Gemini Spark platform.

Gemini Gems allowed users to create customized versions of Gemini for specific tasks, but these features will be migrated to a new system called Skills. Skills are part of Google's push towards making Gemini more capable and efficient across various tasks.

The migration process is set to begin on November 17, with existing Gems being moved to the new Skills system. However, there remains uncertainty about what will happen to free users who currently utilize Gems without a subscription.

Google has not yet clarified whether these users will have access to at least basic Skills after the transition, leaving many concerned that this could lead to frustrating changes for existing users.
