Google has signed an agreement with Georgia Power to support power uprates at two of its nuclear power plants. The uprate will add 96MW of power generation capacity to the wider Georgia grid, with the modifications expected to be completed through a new tariff structure and extended power uprate.

The selected plants are Plant Vogtle, a 4.5-4.8GW site in Burke County, near Waynesboro, Georgia, and Plant Hatch, a 1.84GW plant near Baxley, Georgia. Under the terms of the agreement, Google will adhere to the new tariff structure and receive low-carbon credits tied to the carbon-free attributes of the new capacity added to the plants.

Georgia Power filed for approval earlier this week, asking the PSC to approve the new nuclear uprate tariff structure and an extended power uprate for Units 1 and 2 at Hatch. This is Google's latest nuclear deal, following its international agreement with Fortum in Loviisa, Finland, and a series of other PPAs signed with various companies.
