Google Beam Expands Reach to Six Countries and Four US Cities
Google's Beam, a 3D video calling system, has expanded its reach to six countries and four US cities. The technology is now shipping to customers in the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, and Japan. Additionally, starting in October, users can book a room with a Beam unit at Industrious coworking locations in Atlanta, Chicago, New York City, and Palo Alto.
The product, sold as HP Dimension with Google Beam, is available through 18 channel partners who are equipped to deploy and support it. Beam works seamlessly with Google Meet and Zoom, allowing users to connect face-to-face over video calls.
Google's own study on the effectiveness of Beam found that teams using the technology felt 50% more connected to one another, experienced a 33% ease in ensuring feedback was clearly understood, and saw a 21% drop in the need for follow-up meetings.
