Google-Blackstone Joint Venture Faces Delays on US Data-Center Sites
Project Braid, the $5 billion TPU-cloud joint venture between Google and Blackstone, is facing delays at several US data-center sites. According to Bloomberg, the setbacks include a scaled-down campus in Cheyenne, Wyoming, which was initially taken over from Crusoe by Google. The report did not disclose the revised capacity of this location.
The project's delays have also been attributed to unsuitable transformers at another site and restrictions affecting data-center grid connections in Texas. Bloomberg noted that it could not identify the transformer site or specify which Project Braid locations are affected in Texas.
Despite these project-level delays, Project Braid remains on track to bring 500 MW online in 2027. The venture has identified about 29 potential data-center locations, giving it alternatives as individual sites advance at different rates.
