Google Bolsters Scam Detection for Messages in Latest Pixel Update
Google has updated its Scam Detection feature to identify suspicious messages before users can type a response. This update is part of the September 2026 Pixel Drop and currently available on select Pixel phones.
The new feature, which shows a 'Likely scam' warning in Gboard, helps protect against phishing attempts and other types of scams that try to create urgency or request personal information.
Scam Detection also works in real-time, entirely on the user's device, without sending conversations to servers. This preserves message privacy and helps prevent scammers from accessing sensitive information.
Additionally, Google has expanded its existing Scam Detection feature for notifications, which now supports nine more countries and six new languages.
