Google Boosts Translate App with Background Mode and Earbud-Free Translations
Google has rolled out two significant upgrades for its Translate app on Android and iOS devices. The first upgrade, available for Android users, enables background Live Translate functionality. This feature allows users to continue translating conversations in real-time while multitasking or switching between apps.
The new feature is particularly useful when traveling and trying to communicate with locals. For example, users can check into a hotel or get information about a destination on a map without interrupting the translation session.
In addition to the Android upgrade, Google has also released Translate's 'listening mode' for iOS users. This feature allows iPhone owners to access Live Translate without needing earbuds, simply by holding their phone up to their ear like they're making a call.
