Google Boosts Wireless Android Debugging with ADB Wi-Fi 2.0 Upgrade

Google has announced improvements to wireless Android debugging with ADB Wi-Fi 2.0.

This feature aims to address issues with reliability, particularly when network configurations change or devices are turned off.

The new process includes three core updates: a new server stack (adb) that replaces Bonjour and legacy mDNS for more reliable connections; smarter network handling (adbd) that automatically turns off ADB Wi-Fi on untrusted networks; and improved discoverability in Android Studio, making it easier to pair devices wirelessly.

According to Google, these changes have increased auto-connect reliability by 32% and reduced connection times for most users by up to 66%, with faster connections achieved in around 90% of tested cases.
