A bug in Google Business Profiles and Google Maps has been reported to place some service area businesses' map pins in the middle of the ocean. This issue is affecting service area businesses that do not list their address publicly on their Google local listings.

Dipa Gandhi, a LinkedIn user, first reported the bug and shared screenshots showing the incorrect placement of map pins. According to Gandhi, this is not an isolated incident, as many profiles are affected.

This issue has some similarities with a bug that occurred years ago when Google was dropping businesses in the middle of America for no apparent reason.
