Google Canada Hits Quarter Century Mark with $550 Billion Economic Impact
Google Canada celebrated its 25th anniversary in October 2026, marking a quarter century of innovation and commitment to the country. The company's presence in Canada began with a single employee in 2001, when fewer than half of Canadian households had access to the internet.
Since then, Google has contributed significantly to the country's digital economy, generating over $550 billion in economic activity for Canadian businesses, creators, and developers between 2001 and 2026. The company's products and services have also unlocked an estimated $410 billion in productivity improvements.
In addition to its economic impact, Google Canada has invested over $1.3 billion in philanthropic funding and social impact support to Canadian organizations and nonprofits since 2009. The company has also helped more than 1 million Canadians build digital and AI skills since 2017.
