Google Challenges EU Orders to Share Search Data
Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL), the parent company of Google, is challenging two European Union orders that would require it to give AI companies access to its services and search competitors access to its search data.
The EU's Digital Markets Act requires Alphabet to hand over its query history, which makes up the raw material for its ranking system, by 2027. The company argues that this would undermine user privacy and security.
Alphabet has the resources to fight these orders, having generated $445.87 billion in revenue over the past twelve months at a 34.03% operating margin and holding $242.47 billion of cash.
