Google Cloud Nosedives by $4.6 Billion as Azure Takes Lead
Google Cloud's quarterly revenue has fallen behind Microsoft's Azure by $4.6 billion, according to recent disclosures. This gap amounts to roughly 18.5% of Google Cloud's total revenue.
In its second-quarter filing, Alphabet reported a total revenue of $119.8 billion, with Google Services contributing $94.5 billion. However, the company's stock price stands at $338.31 per share, which is a rich premium of 34.27% above its estimated value of $251.97.
To close this cloud gap and gain profitable market share, Alphabet needs to continue investing in its infrastructure, with capital expenditures exploding to $44.9 billion in the second quarter. This investment push is aimed at building data centers, networks, and computing muscle behind its AI and cloud ambitions.
