Google Cracks Down on Coached Dental Reviews: Dr. Len Tau Reverses Advice
Dr. Len Tau, known as The Reviews Doctor, has reversed his own review advice after Google changed its Maps review rules in April 2026.
The change means that dentists can no longer ask patients to mention team members by name or offer discounts for reviews, practices Dr. Tau previously taught.
In his new book 'Raving Patients Supercharged', Dr. Tau shares the results of an analysis he conducted at two dental offices, which found that those with coached reviews had a much higher percentage of name mentions.
Dr. Tau's reversal comes as Google cracks down on review manipulation, removing over 292 million policy-violating reviews in 2025.
