Google Deepens AI Ties with US Universities
Alphabet Inc., parent company of Google and one of the largest cloud and AI providers, is strengthening its position in university research infrastructure. The company's Google Public Sector has partnered with Morgan State University to build an AI-focused research campus focused on cybersecurity, climate science, health science, and large language models.
The project will provide researchers with access to high-end GPU computing through Google Cloud and Nvidia infrastructure.
This is not just about providing resources; it's about training future engineers and researchers on Google Cloud. As a result, the platform may become harder to replace later. Morgan State also plans to create a Google-focused Center of Excellence for AI skills and workforce training.
Faculty will gain access to Google for Startups, while the university will use Google SecOps and Mandiant security tools for research requiring stricter controls.
