Google DeepMind and Google Cloud are stepping up their support for European scientific research with a major new initiative. The companies are offering up to 200 top researchers direct access to their advanced AI models, along with $3 million in compute credits. This program includes cutting-edge tools like AlphaFold 3, WeatherNext, AlphaGenome, AlphaEvolve, and AlphaEarth Foundations.
The commitment aligns with the European Union’s AI for Science work, specifically through the RAISE initiative. This effort aims to address the compute power challenges often faced by European scientists, helping to bridge the gap and accelerate innovation across the continent.
With this support, researchers will be better equipped to tackle complex problems, from predicting extreme weather events to mapping molecular structures. The goal is to ensure that European science remains competitive and at the forefront of discovery by providing state-of-the-art tools and computational resources directly to research teams.
