Google Deploys AI-Powered WeatherNext 3 for Enhanced Forecasts

Google's DeepMind and Google Research have developed WeatherNext 3, an advanced AI model for more accurate weather forecasting. This new technology aims to deliver faster and more detailed global forecasts, available across various Google platforms, including Search, Google Maps, and Gemini.

The WeatherNext 3 model has outperformed other leading AI weather models as well as traditional systems from the U.S. National Weather Service and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts in tests covering temperature, wind speed, and humidity.

Compared to its predecessor, WeatherNext 2, Google's new model can produce forecasts at a resolution of up to 5 kilometers, with improved rainfall forecasts of 60 percent. The technology also enables hourly forecasts instead of the previous six-hour updates.
