Google Ditches Old Fitbit Logins: Migrate Your Data Now or Risk Losing Years of Health History
Google has officially ended support for old Fitbit accounts in its latest update to the Google Health app. The move marks the end of an era for long-time Fitbit users, who have been given ample time to migrate their data to a Google account.
The company acquired Fitbit in 2021 and has repeatedly reminded users that a Google account would eventually be required to use the app. Users were given until May to transfer their data from the old Fitbit app to a Google account, but now only Google accounts will work for logging in.
According to Google, any data not transferred from an old Fitbit account to a Google account will be permanently deleted. This means anyone still using their original Fitbit login is at risk of losing years of health and fitness data if they do not migrate their data immediately.
