Pixel Users Demand Better Hardware After Survey Reveals Connectivity Woes

Google's Pixel series is generally considered reliable Android phones, but they do have some weaknesses. A recent survey by Android Authority found that connectivity issues are a major problem for many users.

The survey asked readers to identify their biggest historical connectivity bugbear on their Pixel phones. The results showed that nearly 38% of respondents experienced battery drain problems, while around 31% had weak reception issues. Only about 9.5% reported slow mobile data as their main issue.

It's worth noting that the survey did not ask users to specify which Pixel device they own or provide any other details beyond the three options provided. This means that it's difficult to pinpoint a single Pixel phone model with specific connectivity issues.

However, Google has acknowledged these problems and is working to address them by switching to MediaTek modems in newer devices. In fact, tests have shown that the new modem improves connectivity performance in several areas, including stronger indoor reception and faster download speeds on 5G networks. But upload speeds and outdoor reception still lag behind Samsung's modems used in older Pixel models.

The survey results suggest that users want better hardware from Google, particularly with regards to battery life. This desire is likely to continue driving demand for improved connectivity features in future Pixel devices.
