Google Enhances Personalization with New Features Across Discovery Tab and News Feed
Google has released a series of updates to its Discovery tab and news feed, aimed at enhancing user personalization. The new features include a 'Preferred Sources' button that allows readers to follow their favorite publishers directly from the page, as well as a natural language chat interface for tailoring content in the Discover tab.
Additionally, Google has introduced customizable daily audio briefings by topic in the Google News app on Android. While these updates are not new, they represent an important leap forward in personalization technology.
MediaPost's Google and search lead reporter Laurie Sullivan rated the importance of this news a 7 out of 10, stating that it's 'a significant advancement, but there’s still room for improvement.' The new features are based on automation and AI, which will become increasingly helpful for advertisers to reach consumers who are less tech-savvy.
