Google Escapes Breakup, Must Share Ads with Rivals
A U.S. District Court Judge has unsealed her ruling in the antitrust case against Google's advertising business, rejecting a breakup but imposing significant remedies.
The ruling requires Google to make its advertising service interoperable with rivals and share ad auction data with publishers, as well as appoint an internal monitor to ensure compliance.
The Department of Justice had recommended breaking up Google, but Judge Leonie M. Brinkema deemed this measure 'neither realistic nor needed'.
