Google Exhibition Showcases Artists' Projects Created with Chrome Tools

Google recently hosted an event to launch its 'Unfinished Projects' exhibition at the High Line, where artists Solange Knowles, PinkPantheress, and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow showcased their passion projects created using Google's tools. The exhibition aimed to demonstrate how these tools can help manifest visions by avoiding steps that may not be within the user's skill set.

Solange Knowles used Google Chrome to manage and compare references for her copper sculpture, which premiered on the High Line. Her development process involved hand drawings, small resin forms, plexiglass models, tests with sheets of copper, and digital renderings. She also used Chrome as a research and organizational tool.

PinkPantheress put her own twist on ballet slipper flats that she admired as a child in the '00s. The finished concept pairs a transparent outer shoe with patterned pieces that can be switched out underneath it, along with removable magnetic decorations. She used Chrome's Split View to keep online references beside her designs.

Joe Burrow, who has played chess since elementary school and spoken about how it informs him on the playing field, worked through shapes, proportions, and stone combinations digitally before committing them to materials. The finished board uses marble squares individually set into a walnut base supported by steel, while the pieces grew out of experiments with an assortment of minerals.
