Google is actively hiring engineers to enhance its Discover feed with AI-generated content. The company's job listings reveal plans to recommend AI-generated content (AIGC) to better match user interests. The Staff ML Engineer role focuses on quality control, topic discovery, and content understanding for the Discover recommendation team. The team will build agentic flows to generate content for proactive surfaces like Discover and Notifications, ensuring factuality, freshness, coherence, and appropriate tone.
A separate listing for a Director-level design lead aims to transform Discover into a hyper-personalized concierge experience. This role involves helping users move from inspiration to action and balancing AI capabilities with human voices and sources. The position requires collaboration with teams at YouTube, Shopping, Chrome, and Android to scale AI-enabled formats in the feed.
Google has previously introduced AI previews on trending topics in Discover, launched in October 2025 in the U.S., South Korea, and India. The company also announced features allowing users to customize their Discover feed and a 'Dive deeper' button for short topic overviews. The Discover Experience team owns the feed’s user-facing parts, including AI integration, and serves over 500 million daily active users.
Search Console already reports when a site’s links appear in Discover’s generative AI features. The report includes impressions of links to your site in these features, grouped by page, country, and date. However, the report does not break out individual AI features, and sites with too few impressions may not see it.
