Google Expands Presence in Pakistan with New Office Inauguration
On August 18, 2026, Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated Google's first office in the country. The move marks a significant development for Pakistan's technology sector and comes as part of the government's Digital Nation Pakistan vision.
During the inauguration ceremony, Sharif welcomed the delegation led by Wilson White, Vice President of Global Affairs and Public Policy at Google. He emphasized the importance of cooperation with global technology companies such as Google and expressed hope that they would expand their efforts to upskill and empower young Pakistanis.
White briefed the prime minister on Google's plans, stating that the company had contributed more than Rs 3.9 trillion in economic activity for Pakistani businesses and households over the past decade. He also announced that Google Gemini subscriptions would be provided free of charge for one year to all students in Pakistan.
