Google Faces $3.2B Damage Claims Over Ad-Tech Monopoly
A New York federal judge has ruled that Alphabet's Google will face over $3.2 billion in damage claims for allegedly monopolizing advertising technology markets.
The lawsuit, filed by a class of about 5,000 publishers including USA Today and the Daily Mail, accuses Google of harming their business through its AdX advertising exchange.
In his ruling, U.S. District Judge P. Kevin Castel allowed jury trials to proceed on how Google's conduct related to its ad-tech harmed major publishers, with the class seeking around $1.7 billion in damages.
USA Today and Daily Mail will be able to pursue about $900 million and $600 million respectively, according to the ruling.
