Google Faces Antitrust Ruling Over Ad Tech Integration

A federal court has ruled that Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company, must improve its advertising technology integration in response to an antitrust lawsuit from the U.S. government.

The decision follows a previous ruling that found Google to be illegally monopolizing parts of the ad tech market, partly due to unlawful bundling of multiple products.

Judge Leoni Brinkema noted that the rise of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), has altered the market landscape, preventing the court from imposing stricter penalties.

The ruling requires Google to enhance its advertising technology integration over a six-year period, rather than the 15 years initially proposed by the U.S. Department of Justice.
