Google Fitbit Edge fitness band leaks ahead of holiday launch
Google is reportedly preparing to launch the Fitbit Edge, a new fitness band designed to replace the older Fitbit Charge series. Leaked images reveal a device with a small oval display, up to seven days of battery life, built-in GPS, and an altimeter. The Fitbit Edge also supports automatic activity recognition and notification alerts, along with a limited set of apps like Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Find My Phone.
The tracker is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, positioning it as a middle-tier option between the screenless Fitbit Air and the more advanced Pixel Watch 5. The leaked images show three color options, black, green, and orange, with the green and orange models featuring two-toned frames. The device includes elongated buttons on each side and a pinch mechanism for swapping bands, differentiating it from the Pixel Watch's design.
Google had previously hinted at the Fitbit Edge in promotional material for the Pixel 11 series. The device is expected to launch before the end of the month, ahead of the holiday shopping season, with a projected price range of $149 to $199. This pricing places the Fitbit Edge in competition with other smart bands like the Xiaomi Band 10 Pro and the Huawei Band 11 Pro, offering a balance of features at a premium price point.
