Google Fitbit Edge Fitness Tracker Set for Launch
Google is gearing up to launch its newest fitness tracker, the Fitbit Edge, later this month. The device was first hinted at in August when Google Australia accidentally included it in promotional images for the Pixel 11 series. Positioned between the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 5, the Fitbit Edge aims to offer a balance of features and affordability.
The fitness tracker will feature an oval touchscreen, GPS, and up to 7 days of battery life. It will also support limited app functionality, including YouTube Music and Google Maps. The device is expected to come in five color options, with three matching the Google Pixel 11 Pro series. Pricing is rumored to range between $149 and $199.
Leaked images reveal a button on the right side and a more advanced sensor array on the rear compared to the Fitbit Air. The device also appears to have a pinch system for swapping bands. Promotional materials indicate that the Fitbit Edge will be compatible with both Android and iOS devices.
While its display will offer fewer features than the Pixel Watch, the Fitbit Edge will still show notifications. It is also said to provide precise GPS tracking, automatic activity recognition, and elevation tracking. The launch of the Fitbit Edge is anticipated to strengthen Google's presence in the fitness tracker market.
