Google Flights Reveals Optimal Booking Times for Cheaper Airfare
As the holiday travel season approaches, Google Flights has shared insights on the best times to book flights for the lowest prices. With rising fuel costs driving up ticket prices, travelers are increasingly seeking deals. According to Google, the optimal booking window for domestic US flights is 39 days before departure, though prices can drop between 22 and 57 days before the flight. International flights require more advanced planning, with the best time to book being 89 days in advance.
The data varies for holiday travel. Thanksgiving flights are cheapest when booked 34 days in advance, while Christmas flights should be secured around 56 days prior. Spring break trips in March or April see the best prices when booked 50 days out, and summer vacations in July or August are cheapest when booked 21 days before departure. For international destinations, trips to Europe should be booked 49 days or more in advance, and trips to Mexico or the Caribbean should be booked 43 days ahead.
