Google has formed a team in Israel to develop AI chips for robots and autonomous systems. The team, led by Hailo executive Guy Kaminitz, aims to create an AI chip that runs tasks directly on devices rather than cloud servers.

The newly formed group is working on accelerating processing and reducing reliance on cloud resources. Google began its chip development operations in Israel under Google Cloud in 2021 and currently employs around 700 engineers in Tel Aviv and Haifa.

Kaminitz announced the initiative on social media, stating that he had taken charge of the project. Several Hailo engineers have also joined him to work on the AI chip.
