Google Funds Texas Nonprofit's Child Abuse Prevention Program
A Texas nonprofit called EverUpward has received $2.25 million in funding from Google.org to expand its child sexual abuse prevention program, EverBright.
EverBright was developed after years of research and testing, and provides parents with tools to talk to their children about body safety, healthy boundaries, and warning signs in a way that fits each age and everyday life.
The nonprofit received the funding to bring these proven tools to more Texas families through routine pediatric visits, community organizations, and online resources.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, one in six high school students reported having experienced sexual abuse. In addition, a U.S. Department of Justice report found that in over 90% of cases, the person who caused harm was someone the child knew.
