Google Gemini OneGov Deal Extended Through November
The General Services Administration (GSA) has extended its partnership with Google's Gemini OneGov deal, giving federal agencies access to the AI-powered search engine until November 15th. The original agreement was set to expire on September 30th.
GSA did not comment on the extension, but a Google spokesperson stated they had no additional information to share. The extended partnership comes after Anthropic announced it would continue to offer $1 per user access to its Claude AI model through October 31st. OpenAI has also secured a new OneGov partnership that will provide agencies with a 50% usage-based discount on ChatGPT models, starting October 1st.
The extensions apply to all three OneGov deals set to expire at the end of September, demonstrating the growing importance of AI-powered tools in government services. The development coincides with the launch of America.gov, a website offering AI-generated responses to questions about government services and benefits. However, it is unclear whether the website will utilize the extended partnership.
