Google Gemini Powers AI-Powered Government Services in the Philippines
The Philippines has introduced a suite of AI tools powered by Google Gemini inside its eGovPH Super App, expanding digital government services for citizens and public-sector workers.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) launched eGovAI on September 21 with 11 services delivered through a virtual assistant called Kuya A. The tools are free to verified eGovPH users and cover various aspects such as government-service guidance, translation, document processing, agriculture, tourism, programming, health information, and identity verification.
Kuya A provides real-time guidance to help users access government services online, putting generative AI directly into citizen-facing digital infrastructure. The tools include an AI Assistant, Document Extractor, Image Identifier, Translator, Programming Advisor, Speech Maker, Tourism, Laws and Regulation, Identity AI, eAgri for farmers and fisherfolk, and Health AI.
The DICT plans to use the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform to build context-aware agents for government systems. The partnership aims to facilitate access to Gemini Enterprise and Google Workspace for more than 200,000 government employees over 18 months.
