Google Health Premium subscribers who find the AI Coach feature intrusive or unnecessary can now easily disable it without canceling their subscription. An update released in August 2026 introduced a simple toggle in the app settings to turn off the Gemini-powered AI Coach. This allows users to keep other premium features like personalized sleep summaries, advanced sleep tracking, and health guardians while avoiding the coach's constant advice.
To disable AI Coach, users can go to their profile photo in the Google Health app, select 'Your data in Google Health,' and navigate to 'Feature privacy controls.' From there, they can turn off the AI Coach feature. Alternatively, users can adjust the 'Coach messages on Today' setting to 'No Coach insights' to reduce the frequency of coaching messages. Turning off AI Coach means losing personalized guidance and the ability to log meals through the coach, but all previous data remains intact, and the feature can be reactivated anytime.
While some users may find AI Coach valuable for logging workouts, tracking meals, or adjusting fitness routines around injuries, others may find its repetitive advice annoying. For those who prefer a break from the feature, the new toggle provides a convenient way to manage their experience without losing access to other premium benefits. Users can also disable coaching notifications separately if they only want to reduce interruptions.
