Google Home App Bug Causes Smart Lights to Turn On Automatically

Google's latest issue has left users of its Home app frustrated, particularly those on the iOS platform. Reports suggest that opening the Google Home app on an iPhone or iPad causes connected smart lights to turn on automatically. Users have reported experiencing this issue with a range of smart lighting devices from various manufacturers, including Govee, Philips Hue, Tapo, and Kasa.

The bug has been observed to affect both dimmers and bulbs, as well as LED strips, and it seems that even after manually turning them off, the app will turn them back on a few seconds later. The issue is reportedly confined to the iOS version of the Google Home app, with users on Android devices and the web interface not experiencing the same problem.

Unfortunately, there appears to be no workaround for this bug at present, with some users trying methods such as unlinking their third-party accounts or force-quitting the app. However, these attempts have been unsuccessful in resolving the issue.
