Google Home Devices Affected by Gemini Bug that Causes Self-Interupting Conversations
Gemini, a popular virtual assistant on Google Home devices, has been experiencing a peculiar issue where it hears its own voice and starts responding to itself. This causes the assistant to crash, repeat responses, and even create duplicate timers.
The problem surfaced recently on Reddit after a user reported that their Gemini Live mode had become unusable due to this bug. Google's official Nest Community account confirmed the issue and assured users that improvements were rolling out to fix it.
The issue is similar to one reported earlier this year on Android Auto, where Gemini would start answering, switch back to listening mid-sentence, and respond to its own audio production. However, in this case, the problem is occurring on Google Home devices, which has led some to speculate about potential causes such as Bluetooth latency.
Google has not revealed the cause of the issue or provided a timeline for when the improvements will be complete. However, users can expect another update once the fixes have reached everyone.
